While France is burning and ,surprisingly, a whole year has passed since Arafat died, a man gets shot in the US at a screening of a film about a drug dealing bullet catching rapper. ESA is postponing Ariane flights and Germany’s first woman chanceler’s politics are the same as the last chanceler’s. No change there…

Meanwhile, birdflu is breaking out again in China and scientists claim that global warming is due to steam (water) in the athmosphere, not carbon dioxide.

Oh, and I am reading my first German language book in years.

Whatever next…

Our dear PM Tony Blair was defeated in the House of Commons today for the first time since he became Prime Minister all the way back in 1997.

It was a display of good will and a victory for everybody’s human rights. Well, they can still lock you up for 28 days, but at least it is not 90. source: BBC News Online

A little something I picked up while perusing the international press:

“At one point, da Silva (President of Brazil) even exhibited a map of his country, which is larger than the continental United States. “Wow! Brazil is big,” Amorim (Brazilian foreign minister) quoted the U.S. president as responding.” source: www.sfgate.com
