I cannot say if it really is faster, I have not noticed much of a difference, yet. I am sure that extension support is coming, otherwise they might just pack up shop and leave today. I installed in this morning at work and I'm impressed so far. I prefer it over Safari already! Currently though I don't see an extension option. Have you heard this will be added at a later stage?
